UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher has warned of worsening conditions in conflict zones, describing places such as Sudan and Gaza as an “atrocities lab”, where new weapons are being developed and tested amid devastating human suffering.
Fletcher also condemned the killing of around 1,000 aid workers over the past three years, lamenting what he described as a near-total lack of accountability: “No accountability, never investigations.” He called the situation “terrifying”.
