Heavy monsoon rains flood Mumbai, submerging roads, disrupting traffic and forcing residents to wade through waterlogged streets in India’s financial hub.

Heavy monsoon rain has flooded parts of Mumbai, with people wading through waterlogged streets in the financial capital of India.

A man wheels a motorbike through the deluge, while traffic officers manage movement on submerged roads as vehicles push through.

The scenes reflect the arrival of delayed monsoon rains, which have come more than two weeks later than expected. Floodwater covers large stretches of road, slowing transport and forcing residents to navigate on foot.

Amidst strong winds, a fallen tree crushed a vehicle, adding to the disruption already caused by the flooding as emergency services respond across affected areas.
