Euronews' Stefan Grobe speaks to Matt Klink, a Republican party strategist, and president of Klink Campaigns. He comments on the upcoming US midterm elections due to happen across the US today.

He said that Republicans will "face headwinds" going into this election cycle, as Republicans have control of both the Senate, House, and presidency. Despite not being on the ballot, Trump's unpopularity plays a role in the midterms, alongside a rising cost-of living and the war in Iran. Klink believes voters will "take that anger out on Republican candidates" across the US.

When asked on how the Republican agenda would be affected with diminished representation in the two chambers, he said that it will affect the last two years of the President's term, but added that this "happens every time that parties switch power." Klink believes that Trump would "rule by executive order and veto," and that "gridlock will be the word of the day for 2027 and 2028" if the Democrats win in the House and Senate.

If the House flips, Klink says "there will be some revelations" when the Democrats begin to exert oversight with a House majority, going as far as to say he "wouldn't be surprised" if Trump were to be impeached a third time.

The US will hold midterm elections today to re-elect part of the Senate and all of the lower chamber House of Representatives. Some states also hold gubernatorial elections for their state's governor.
