Fans in San Diego erupt in celebration as Mexico beat Ecuador 2-0 in a World Cup knockout match, ending a 40-year drought in the competition.
Fans erupted in celebration at a World Cup watch party in San Diego after Mexico beat Ecuador 2-0 in a round of 32 match.
The video shows supporters jumping, chanting and waving shirts and flags as the final whistle confirmed Mexico's first knockout win in 40 years.
Many shout 'Mexico!' as the crowd turns into scenes of celebration.
The match was played in Mexico City and started an hour late due to a thunderstorm. It marked Mexico's first knockout stage win since 1986, ending a long run of defeats at this stage of the tournament.
