An "extraordinary historical moment in Serbian parliamentary democracy", which "completely changes the political landscape of the country", says Bojan Vranić, a professor of Political Science at the University of Belgrade.
He calls it a victory not just over the Vučić government, but a victory over existing parliamentary opposition, "bringing in a new, fresh, political elite."
The Serbian election yesterday overturned the Vučić government's 14 years in power. Whilst Vučić has admitted defeat, it is yet unclear who will lead Serbia's next government. Vranić warns against expectations for radical change, instead forecasting "continuity, with some improvements," for the short term.
