Multiple airstrikes hit Beirut, emergency crews respond to fires

Multiple Israeli airstrikes struck central Beirut, sending large plumes of black smoke into the sky, footage shows. Fires broke out in buildings as emergency vehicles arrived at the scene.

Israel’s military said it carried out a coordinated operation targeting more than 100 Hezbollah sites within minutes across Beirut, southern Lebanon and the Beqaa region.

The strikes came hours after the United States and Iran announced a two-week ceasefire. Israel said the agreement does not apply to its operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
