Ferran on his MEGA cap: "Honestly, I don't know about politics"
The Barcelona striker, who may be wearing new colours next season, played down on "CNN" the significance of turning up at Spain's victory parade at Cibeles in a cap echoing Donald Trump's signature slogan.

'Make America Great Again'. The slogan, emulated and reworked to exhaustion even by groups hardly suspected of buying into Trumpist theses (as in the case of our colleagues at 'La Perdiz Roja' and their best-selling pro-Castile T-shirt (source in Spanish)), does not appear to have caused any problems for the Valencian Ferran Torres, who showed off a similar cap during the celebrations for La Roja's World Cup triumph.
"It was just to have a bit of fun with my friends and family and had nothing to do with politics," Torres said in English in an interview with 'CNN' after being asked about the initials on the cap, recast as 'Make Spain Great Again'. "Honestly, I don't know anything about politics. It was only because I wanted to see Spain back on top again, lifting the Cup."
The Trump administration, however, interpreted the forward's gesture as tacit support for the MAGA ideology, the populist wing of the Republicans clustered around the president. "Everyone wants to be part of this movement," the official White House account even posted, used since Trump's arrival as a media megaphone for his entourage.
Torres is reportedly in talks to leave Barça ahead of next season, amid internal rumours that he could end up signing for Paris Saint-Germain, coached by Luis Enrique. 'CNN' journalist Kaitlan Collins asked him directly about his future and PSG. "Right now the only thing I know is that I have to go back there on 12 August and train with them," the smiling footballer said. "We'll see what happens (...) in football everything can change in an instant, I'm ready for anything."
The 26-year-old player, born in 2000, scored the goal that sealed the 2026 World Cup title against Argentina, in the 106th minute of the final played at the New York/New Jersey stadium. The following day, as reports emerged that Torres owned a property company that had bought "20 homes in Valencia" for speculative purposes, he sported the controversial cap during the victory parade held in Madrid. The player's camp insisted that the report about the vulture fund was false.
'CNN' has not been the only studio Ferran Torres has visited during his stay in the United States, with further interviews lined up at 'ESPN' and on NBC's Today show.
