The former US Ambassador to NATO Kurt Volker told Euronews that the reason the US is delaying the delivery of Patriot missiles to Ukraine is because it may resume its war against Iran after the midterm elections.
Earlier this week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Kyiv had been waiting for almost a month for US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth to sign off on the delivery of the missiles.
"My best guess is that the Pentagon is preparing for the possibility of a resumption of the war against Iran after the midterm elections. And in that circumstance, they don't know how many Patriot missiles they're going to need for themselves so they're just waiting", the ex Ambassador said.
Volker also pointed out that the delay in the delivery of the missiles is a tactic used by Washington to apply pressure on Ukraine.
