Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev has condemned a drone attack on two commercial ships in the Black Sea that sank one of them, calling it "a flagrant violation of maritime law".

"Such an attack within the Bulgarian exclusive economic zone is absolutely unacceptable," he told reporters on Tuesday at the start of an emergency meeting on the strikes.

Sea and aerial drones hit the vessels at about 3am local time (1am CET), around 70 nautical miles east of the town of Byala, Radev said. He did not say who was behind the attack.
