Pope Leo XIV has warned against losing humanity in a “paradise of machines” as artificial intelligence increasingly shapes daily life.
Speaking at the French presidential palace in Paris on Friday, during his first papal trip to France, Leo XIV said he had made AI a central issue in his first encyclical.
He called for the human person to remain at the heart of discussions about the technology, stressing the need to develop ethical discernment.
The pope also urged people to develop the ability to recognise what is morally good as AI continues to transform society.
