Dua Lipa and Callum Turner's wedding bash in Sicily has put the Italian island fully in the spotlight for summer travel.
In Italy, Google searches for the singer's wedding location have increased by 94% in the last week.
With singer Charli XCX also choosing Sicily for her nuptials in September 2025, the island is even proving more popular than some of the most iconic celebrity wedding destinations of recent years, such as Lake Como.
Sicily is the new hotspot for celebrity weddings
In the last month, Google searches for Lake Como reached 225,000, a 7% decrease from the previous year, while Sicily totalled 2.4 million searches in the same period, according to travel experts at car rental provider SIXT.
Dua Lipa chose Villa Igiea in Palermo for her Sicilian stay. Google searches for the storied Art Nouveau hotel overlooking the Mediterranean have increased 306% in the last 90 days after the venue rumours spread.
The five-star property – a grand, coral-hued building appearing like a neo-medieval palace rising from the coastline – is no stranger to high-profile guests, having hosted royalty and Hollywood stars in the past.
Inside are frescoed Belle Époque halls, while the grounds feature terraced gardens and an infinity pool.
Dua Lipa and Turner also had a celebration at Villa Valguarnera in Bagheria, for which Google searches have increased by 277% in the last week. The private villa of 18th-century Baroque splendour is available to book for stays and events by request only.
The property also featured as the filming location for the urban residence of Don Fabrizio, the Prince of Salina, in the Netflix series The Leopard. The noble summer retreat and vast estate feature a sweeping oval front court and Pompeian-style frescoed interiors.
Currently presided over by Princess Vittoria Alliata, you and five other guests can spread out in 700 square metres of bedrooms, dining rooms, drawing rooms and a ballroom, plus 1,300 square metres of sunny-tiled terrace.
Dua Lipa’s three-day bash also included events at Palazzo Gangi, with Google searches increasing by 199% in the last week. As it is a private residence, access is strictly limited to guided tours, pre-booked appointments or special events.
Charli XCX's Sicilian wedding destination is back in the spotlight
Dua Lipa’s marriage celebrations have thrown Charli XCX's Sicilian location back into the limelight: In the last 90 days in Italy, Google searches for Tonnara Di Scopello have increased by 1,576%.
Tonnara Di Scopello was once a centre for traditional tuna fishing beginning in the 13th century. Now, the secluded cove in northwestern Sicily is famed for its turquoise water, ‘faraglioni’ sea stacks and boutique hotel.
Once, the location was only accessible by sea. Now, however, it can also be reached by car.
Visitors are required to purchase a €25 ticket, which allows access to the beach equipped with sun loungers and the on-site museum dedicated to the 800-year history of traditional tuna fishing. The area tends to get crowded, so booking up to 15 days in advance is recommended.
You can also take a trip to the Zingaro Nature Reserve, which is a 30-minute drive away, with admission for €5.
