At least five people were killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza, including a nine year-old boy, on Tuesday.

The boy, identified as Adel al-Najjar, was collecting firewood in the eastern part of Khan Younis city when he was killed by Israeli fire, according to Nasser hospital authorities. The area was about 400 metres west of the so-called Yellow Line, which separates Israeli-controlled areas from the rest of Gaza.

There has been no immediate comment from the Israeli military.

Sabreen al-Najjar, a relative of Adel al-Najjar, expressed, “Every day they target children. What is the guilt of those children? Tell me, what is the guilt of these children? Do they carry weapons or tanks? They go to collect cardboard boxes (and firewood) for their mothers so they can cook and eat, just to eat and drink.”

Meanwhile, four men were killed in a direct Israeli hit on a car in Gaza City, according to Shifa hospital. The Israeli army said it struck “a terrorist” in Gaza City but provided no further information.

According to Gaza Health officials, since the October ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Israeli forces have killed at least 818 Palestinians, including 226 children and 179 women.
