The judge investigating the death of Mango founder Isak Andic has ordered a new round of measures that includes hearing as witnesses the family therapist, the businessman’s daughters, his partner and the company’s chief executive, Toni Ruiz. The magistrate has also ordered a forensic reconstruction of the fatal fall that took place in Montserrat on 14 December 2024.

The new measures are part of the case in which Jonathan Andic, the businessman’s eldest son and the only person who accompanied him on the hike, remains under investigation on suspicion of homicide.

According to the court order, the judge has decided to summon around ten people from Isak Andic’s family and professional circle. They include the therapist who treated several family members, Sarah and Judith Andic, the businessman’s partner, Toni Ruiz, and several officers from the Mossos d'Esquadra Mountain Intervention Unit.

The magistrate has also ordered that hikers who came into contact with Jonathan Andic after his father’s fall be located and questioned. Among them is one of the people who helped him in the moments immediately after the accident.

One of the elements that has gained prominence in the investigation is the messages exchanged between Isak Andic, Jonathan Andic and the family therapist during a course of therapy. The prosecution believes those conversations show a deterioration in the relationship between father and son, while the defence argues that they must be interpreted in the context of the therapy.

The judge has also agreed to hear from Jonathan Andic’s sisters. In their earlier statements to the Mossos, Sarah Andic said she had never seen her father and brother argue and rejected the idea that he had an “obsession with money”. For her part, Judith Andic said that there had been “the odd row but nothing serious” between them, according to the documents added to the case file.

In addition to the new testimony, the magistrate has ordered a technical reconstruction of the fall, involving the forensic doctors who carried out the autopsy, the crime-scene police and the experts who inspected the scene. The aim is to assess whether the injuries suffered by the businessman are compatible with the way the fall is said to have happened and with the traces found in the area.

The items to be examined include a watch, a jacket, traces of blood and various marks found along the Montserrat path where the accident occurred.

The judge has also requested the full medical, care and pharmaceutical history of Isak Andic. The defence argues that health problems such as the osteoarthritis the businessman suffered from could have contributed to an accidental fall, while the prosecution believes these records may be relevant to clarifying the circumstances of his death.

The investigation remains open.
