Cristiano Ronaldo outmanoeuvred everyone and got married behind closed doors, with no fans in the stands and no media in attendance, exactly one year after the proposal.

The year's most eagerly awaited "SIMMMM" moment took place on Tuesday 11 August, in Cascais, where the couple have a new home, in an intimate civil ceremony attended only by their five children, according to his press office.

Although no one was invited, everyone still got a keepsake at the end of the ceremony. The newlyweds treated the world to a photograph of their hands, showing their wedding rings. In the caption, a discreet "C" and "G".

Everything that was written and speculated about Cristiano Ronaldo's wedding ended up being, in itself, more interesting than the wedding itself. Even the episode of the "invasion" of Funchal Cathedral, on the island where the football star was born and which had long been tipped as a possible wedding venue, last Sunday, after rumours that Cristiano and Georgina would marry there, ended up being even more hilarious.

Of all the theories spun around the nuptials, only one came close to reality: the date. The wedding did indeed take place in August. However, no one expected it to be on a Tuesday, and in such a low-key moment.

Little to nothing is known about the family's private celebration, but some media reported that Georgina wore white with long sleeves.

The wedding turned out, after all, to be exactly what we had already predicted here: the best-kept secret in history.

From Gucci to the 37-carat oval diamond

The story of Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez began in 2016.

The couple met in a Gucci shop in Madrid, where Georgina worked as a sales assistant. Later, they crossed paths again at other events and started going out together discreetly.

At the beginning, they tried to keep the romance out of the public eye, but in January 2017 they made the relationship official by appearing together for the first time at the FIFA awards ceremony.

In June 2017, twins Eva and Mateo were born via surrogacy, as had already been the case with Cristiano Jr. A month later, Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez announced that they were expecting their first child together.

In November 2017, Alana Martina was born. Over that period, Georgina also came to play a central role in the lives of Cristiano Jr., Eva and Mateo.

In August 2025, the couple announced their engagement, after almost nine years together.

The announcement was made on social media on 11 August 2025, with Georgina posting the striking ring along with the caption: "Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives", she wrote.

The ring also became raw material for coverage in the international press, which sought out jewellery experts to find out the value of the piece. The 30-carat ring could be worth between 2 and 4.5 million euros.

Throughout their relationship, Georgina has followed Ronaldo through his various club changes, from his departure from Real Madrid to Juventus in 2018, to his return to Manchester United in 2021 and his move to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia in 2023.

Along the way, the couple have also faced defining moments, such as the tax fraud case involving the footballer and the rape allegation he faced.

In October 2021, Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez revealed that they were expecting twins. Months later, in April 2022, the couple announced the death of their son during childbirth. The twin sister, Bella Esmeralda, was born healthy.
